I’ll start with some nutrition trivia: Did you know that broccoli has more protein than avocado? ‘Cause I didn’t either until recently. According to the internet, 100g of broccoli has 2.8g of protein, while the same amount of avocado has 2g. If that’s not enough reason to start including broccoli in your meals, here’s more: it’s low in calories and high in fiber, making it perfect if you’re watching your calorie intake. And I won’t speak for everyone, but most of us find it pretty delicious, don’t we? Alright, here’s one of the simplest broccoli dishes you can make with just a few ingredients—Broccoli Stir Fry. Read on for the recipe!
Broccoli Stir Fry Recipe🥦
Ingredients
🥦Broccoli – 300g
🥜Peanuts – 3 tbsp
🧄Garlic – 8 cloves
🌶️Chilli flakes – 1 tbsp
🍋Lemon juice – 2 tbsp
🍋Lemon zest – 1 lemon
🥄Roasted sesame seeds – 1 tsp
🧂Salt – to taste
🧈Ghee or butter – 2-3 tbsp
Procedure
Pod 1:
- Heat a pan and dry roast the peanuts on medium flame.
- Once done, cool them down, then rub them in a towel until the skin peels off.
- Split them in halves or crush them gently.
- Avoid using a blender as we want to keep their texture intact.
Pod 2:
- Cut the broccoli into medium-sized florets.
- Bring water to a boil in a deep vessel, add a pinch of salt, and blanch the florets for about 5 minutes, just until the raw flavor dissipates.
- Drain and set aside.
How to Stir Fry Broccoli
- Heat ghee or butter in a pan.
- Once hot, add finely chopped garlic and sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add lemon zest and stir for another minute.
- Toss in the blanched broccoli, add salt, and stir fry on high flame for 2 minutes, then reduce the flame to medium and cook for another 5-7 minutes.
- Add the roasted peanuts and chilli flakes.
- Stir everything together, check the texture, and cook for a few more minutes if needed.
- Turn off the heat, top with lemon juice, and sprinkle some roasted sesame seeds for extra crunch.
