Indian Style Curd Dip Recipe

indian style curd dip recipe color me mad

With the festive season well underway, we’re slowly stacking up dazzling decor, gifts, and not to mention, food to keep our hands and mouths busy. If you’re anything like me, you’ll agree that crackers (of all sorts) are great. They’re not loaded with sugar and calories and are airy enough to munch all day long. And the best way to munch on crackers is with dips alongside. While store-bought dips are just as great, if you’re looking for an easy, spicy, homemade, Indian alternative, you’ll love my yet another Instagram-reel-inspired recipe. Here’s a curd dip recipe that’s made out of readily available kitchen ingredients.

Ingredients

Hung Curd

Garlic (finely chopped)

Green chilies (finely chopped)

Salt

Cooking oil (any)

Chilli powder (optional)

Chilli flakes

Cilantro (finely chopped)

Curd Dip Recipe

1. Start by taking a cup of hung curd in a bowl. Hung curd can be simply made by straining excess water from curd using a muslin cloth for 4-5 hours or overnight. However, for this recipe, one hour of straining will do. Hung curd gives the dip a rich creamy texture.

2. Next, heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan. Once the oil is hot, add the finely chopped garlic and chilies. Allow them to fry until they turn crispy. Then add the chilli flakes and turn off the heat.

3. Add this sizzling oil mixture to the hung curd, followed by salt and chili powder (if you like it). Thoroughly mix all the ingredients.

4. To finish, garnish the dip with finely chopped cilantro.

Voilà! Your homemade dip is ready. Enjoy it with crackers or chips. I particularly love it with desi khakra.

Note:

– Adjust the amount of chilies, garlic, and chilli flakes according to your spice preference.

– Use fresh curd to avoid a sour taste in your dip.

– If you don’t have chili flakes readily available in your kitchen, make your own chilli flakes at home using this recipe
