Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Review

laneige lip sleeping mask review, colormemed, best lip balm, chapped lips. lip mask, korean beauty

This post takes me back to the time I found my jaw on the floor when I first checked Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask’s price on the internet. It was difficult to comprehend how 8 grams of a lip care product could cost more than a mid-premium meal for one. Thanks to all the Instagram beauty influencers for hyping it up just right and bringing it to my notice (multiple times). Though in my usual fashion, I didn’t give in on the first go; the super adorable container definitely caught my attention as it made rounds on my feed. It took a whole year after that online meet-cute for the lip mask to actually make it to my nothing-but-basics skincare collection. And like they say, the rest is history. I got the 8g berry variant (pinkish-red one), which also happens to be the more popular one.

After two years of religiously using the product, it’s safe to say I’m eligible to review it. So, here’s an honest review of the globally touted lip sleeping mask.

What’s The Big Deal About It Anyway?

The big deal is that Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is one of the flagship products owned by the reputed luxury Korean beauty brand Laneige who consider themselves the hydration experts (rightly so). ‘La Neige’ is french for ‘the snow,’ which loosely explains the prominence of water in their skincare line. The brand boasts a wide range of premium skincare products enriched by its unique water technology. No wonder it blew up on the internet. Koreans are far-famed for their gorgeous glass skin. A luxury Korean brand with oh-so-promising hydrating technology? The internet and the whole world evidently acquiesced.

The lip sleeping mask comes in a really cute container in pinkish-red color. It has a delicious fragrance to it but in a very non-disturbing and pleasant way. Now, the consistency of the lip mask is something to die for and quite easily my favorite thing about the product. It has a buttery consistency, rather dense yet smooth enough to glide effortlessly on lips. One generous dollop of the lip mask goes a long way. Apply it overnight and wake up with plump and supple lips, just as they promise. The product is known for its Berry mix complex rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants and moisture wrap technology that promises improved absorption of ingredients into the skin overnight.

My experience with the lip mask has been awesome. So awesome I instantly got a new one as soon as I finished the first without a second thought. I do not have chapped lips. Still, as the brand claims, the lip mask melts away dead skin cells leaving a residue in the mornings that you can gently wipe off. Thus the guaranteed suppleness. It’s super hydrating and works all year round perfectly. And the best part? It’s not tinted at all. Although it has a mild pink color to it, it’s as good as colorless when you apply it to your lips. Nothing against tinted lip balms, but I personally love non-tinted ones, so it’s a win for me. This makes it easy for me to occasionally impel the product onto my friends, family, and colleagues because hey, unisex products are a huge blessing (also, they love it!)

The cost for 8g is 500 INR which is slightly on the pricier side. However, the product lasts really long (easily 8 months even upon regular use), and it’s worth every penny.

Note: The 8g variant does not come with a spatula, so you are on your own with your god-gifted fingers.

The Verdict

All in all, I have zero cons for Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. It’s an easy 10 with no buts. Go for it, especially if you have chapped/flaky lips. You can also use it as a lip balm during the day (like I do). Just remember not to eat it away (it really does smell delicious), and you are good.
